dpbhlWith the Masters season just ending and the DPBHL All-Star Day about thirty days away, in the same sentence I would like to congratulate the Fall Season Champs Falco Steelers, and wish them the best of luck. I must admit that since it is the first DPBHL Masters All-Star game there seems to be some pressure on this rookie convenor to put together a combination of players that will bring it to the Steelers. With the talent that exists in this division, it appears that the first ever Masters All-Star game will be a dandy!!!

There is always a "man with a plan", in this case there will be two men with a plan and the first ever Masters All-Star team coaches will be Dom Cannatelli from the Venetian Lions and Stephen Lavalle from the Toronto Jaguars. Both men have put many years of dedication to the sport of ball hockey and more importantly to the Northwest Toronto BHL and proud member of the Ontario BallHockey Association.

The forwards will be let by regular season MVP from the Lions Gus Kourousis. On his side will be the regular season Leading Scorer and the man who possesses the most feared one timer in the league from the Toronto Penguins Paul Mauti. Joining these two offensive juggernauts, from the Jaguars David Silva and wiley veteran Pat Cimino. The Wolfpak will be contributing up front as well with arguably their two best forwards Sanjeev Bhalla and Vinder Singh.

On the backend the defense will pack a punch with offense and defense. The first defenseman selected to the team is Adriano Oliva from the Lions. Second defenseman selected to the All-Star team brings a bit of both to the table from the Weston Alumni Shawn Noble. The third defenseman selected has been a dedicated defenseman for many years and has been a man who has run his team with class and pride. It's with this attitude and my privilege that Gino Nicoli from the Flyers will also be the first ever Captain of the Masters All-Star team.

With two goalies to be selected, the first will be Tony Iozzo from the Alumni. Tony has clearly been the most acrobatic goalie in the masters division and deserving of his selection to the team.

With the selection of six forwards, three defensemen and one goalie, sounds like a regular lineup on a Tuesday or Thursday night at Vaughan Sportsplex. However, we're playing with a full bench on January 26th and there will be more All-Star announcements so stay tuned.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
