On the eve to New Year’s Eve four members of the Premier division came together to select their “Fantasy” All-Star teams for the 20131 Premier Winter All-Star game. Coaching the East side and present for the draft was Marcel Vieira and Glen Bradbury Sr. from the Metro Orangemen and from the West were Rob Moniz from the Toronto Polar Bears and Angelo Gaetano from the North York Hitmen and the fun was set to begin. A flip of a coin decided who would get the first choice overall and with Marcel calling tails the coin came up heads and the West side would be granted top pick for this mid-season classic.

Moniz and Gaetano would commence the selection of their squad. With two veterans of the game being selected to the game one to each side, Moniz selected Brampton Express defencemen and leader James “Chicky” Mentis. The draft had started and we were off and running.

The West or “Team Moniz” began to build the club from an offensive standpoint taking Mississauga Hawks forward Matt Tremblett with the first pick. The next two picks built the backend with Hitmen Victor Azevedo and Express rearguard Fred Pereira. With the West club taking on and explosive offensive look, Gaetano and Moniz continued to select high powered offensive players and rounded out the defence with Chris Cerquiera (Orangemen), Danny Pacheco (Orangemen), John To (Polar Bears), Anthony Zeppieri (Hitmen) and Carlos Arce (Hitmen).

Tending goal for the West will be the tandem of Hawks standout netminder Paul Zarnett and Vaughan Red Wings backstopper Anthony Ferrante two of the top tenders in the game today.

With the defence and goaltenders in place here is who filled out the front line for the West side. The “Magic Man” Chris Morrison Jr. (Express), Shawn Hannon (Express), Tony Montiero (Express) was added as a line, and the Express trio was built. Speedster Randy Kelly (Bears), Andy Pacheco (Orangemen), Steve Ceccanese (VRW) and Jonathon Pulicicchio (Hitmen) brought the team’s forwards to eight. Premier scoring wizard along with a former MVP in Massimo Principe and Charlie Giffin both from the Thunder will line up for the West. Hawks Frank D’Ambrosio and Rick Daponte (Orangemen) and his rocket shot filled out the West side’s lineup.

The players listed are listed in random order. Team West will participate in their home jersey’s representing their home clubs (White or light Jersey).

With “Team Moniz “released, the anticipation and excitement is commencing to build. If for any reason you cannot attend the game please inform a member of the coaching staff Moniz, Gaetano or Zampini so alternate arrangements may be made. January 26 will be the date where you can come out and see all your favourite All-Stars line up with bragging rights on the line.
