Premier BHLThe young and hungry VRW continue to be your Premier leaders through three weeks. Their latest conquest a 3-2 victory over the National Champions Brampton Express. The Hawks look stronger then I've ever seen them as they dump the Thunder 4-1. St.Mike’s versus a depleted Polar Bears takes two points in a 3-1 victory .The night cap had the Jets earn their first W as a new entity.

The new kids on the block the Vaughan Red Wings certainly show up to play every game. With a full bench and a commitment to a solid game plan they have certainly showed they belong. As they came into week three a battle with the Brampton Express loomed with both clubs at 2-0. A cautious first five minutes leads to the Express flexing their muscles as they open a 2-0. Matt Martello and Jeff Broekema find the net behind Anthony Ferrante and VRW find themselves climbing from behind. A goal from Steve Carcillo and a powerplay marker from Sammy Renda had the game tied. The Extra Shooters would be needed to decide the extra point. All three snipers from the VRW would light the lamp as Metallo, Renda and Serpe beat David DiGironimo in the Express goal. The Express fall a point of the leaders and look forward to a matchup next week with the Mississauga Hawks.

The Toronto Thunder found themselves at a significant disadvantage as only five regulars show up for this one. The Mississauga Hawks claim a 4-1 victory to continue their undefeated season. Goals from ex-Express members Tony Talevski and Matt Tremblett with his third of the young season send the Thunder to their second straight defeat. Dan Giffin with many spectacular saves in his season debut can’t save them all on this night. The Hawks face their toughest challenge of the year as the Express wait in week four. Tremblett faces his ex- teammates in what promises to be well worth the price of admission. Ralph Pellicori leads all goaltenders giving up only one goal in two starts.

Old habits are hard to break and the Toronto Polar Bears slow start shows that front and center. A team that many thought after their epic semi-final series versus the Express were ready to take that next step have once again fallen behind the eight ball. A 3-1 loss to St.Michael’s drops the Bears to the cellar of the Premier division. It’s about that time when the Edwards brothers rally the troops and the Bears start to turn the tables. In a 16 game season every game very point is crucial. St.Mikes rebounds and improves to 2-1 on the young season. Alex Liakopoulos still awaiting his Bears debut.

Mergers take time to fully show their true potential. The Vaughan Jets on this night had all the engines blaring and pair of goals by super star Sandro Mignosa was all the offence they would need in a 4-1 win over the Thornhill Steelers. The scoreline is deceiving as the Steelers had many glorious scoring chances turned away by Dwayne Pallotta in the Jets goal. A young and agile goaltender he may the future starter for this club as he just seems to win games. The Steelers need to chalk this one up to a hot goaltender and some bad luck.
