Premier BHLThe mighty Mississauga Hawks find themselves in a two game slide after a last minute heartbreaker last week. The Vaughan Red Wings in a statement game come away with a 4-0 victory. Behind the strength of a powerplay, shorthanded, even strength and empty net goal the Wings dominate their veteran opponents. The Express break out of their mini slump as the Steelers fall prey 4-1 to the defending National Champions. The Orangemen riding the Randy Kelly wave come away with a 2-1 victory against the under manned Polar Bears who are in every game and find themselves running out of gas when needed to push for that critical goal. The Jets have found their fuel racking up their third victory in four games. A shootout victory as Mike Gaggi returns to bury the winner.

A return to form for the once dominate Vaughan Jets franchise has both Head Coach Gerry Panza and GM Frank Zampini breathing easy for the time being. Three victories in their last four games have the Jets climbing the Tier 1 ladder .Their latest victory came at the expense of St. Michael’s as team leader Mike Gaggi buries the shootout winner. St.Mike’s after a quick start find themselves sliding down the standings and sit in sixth place with a date with the Steelers next week.

The Vaughan Red Wings have served notice that they are ready to be considered contenders. A dominating victory over the Mississauga Hawks has opened the eyes of many that they are for real. The newest super star to the Tier 1 level Sam Renda fires a Hat Trick and adds a helper as he jumps into second place in the scoring race behind Thunder Massimo Principe. Anthony Ferrante plays his best game of the Fall season as he stones all the Hawks snipers.

Rounding back into form the Brampton Express come away with a 4-1 victory over the Thornhill Steelers. Shawn Hannon and Vic Azevado chip in offensively as the Express continue to battle in the log jam that is second place tied with two other teams. Goaltender David DiGironimo is beaten only once by a George Nistas rocket from the slot. Later in the game Nistas beats DiGironimo once again only for the shot to hit the crossbar and keep the score at 4-1. The Express next week meet the Orangemen in a game that has two teams battling for top spot.

Randy Kelly the missing piece? After searching for an offensive sparkplug two may have been found from north of the city for the Metro Orangemen. Randy Kelly and Brian McNellan with the game winner versus the Toronto Polar Bears in a 2-1 victory have paid immediate dividends. A stellar defensive crew and a duo of goaltenders that rank up with the best in the division the Orangemen are serving notice. What can I say about the Polar Bears losing all these close games with a minimal bench? If only they had the commitment they would be right in the thick of things.
